NYDA or National Youth Development Agency was established to take on the challenges faced by many of the youth of South Africa. This is still the primary goal of this South African based company today. They address issues that concern the development of the countries youth whether it is at a local Government level, national or provincial level. The youth in South Africa make up about 42% of the country’s population. When talking about the youth it includes those between the ages of 14 and 35. Youth development is a priority to the NYDA to combat poor living conditions, poverty, poor health and all things that affect the youth.

The duration of learnerships may vary in accordance to the company’s need. They are usually for 12 or 18-months, some offer a monthly allowance and some may not. These and other conditions will be discussed with successful candidates.

Requirements for NYDA Learnership Programmes

Each program offered by the NYDA has requirements that must be met by all applicants. Below we have compiled a list of some of these requirements that you can use as a guideline.

Qualifications / Requirements needed:

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • Applicants must have a Grade 12 certification
  • Candidates must have a valid/legal ID book or document
  • You must be unemployed
  • Depending on the field and opportunity you must have a diploma or degree in the field

Candidates with a disability are also encouraged to apply for learnerships provided by the NYDA. These applicants must provide a medical certificate stating their disability with their application form and other documents. Some of their learnerships are also available for students from Grade 8 and up. Applications must be completed in full and all documentation must be certified copies. Candidates can also submit referral letters and a CV.

NYDA Learnership Programme Application Process

NYDA learnership application online is easy to do via the NYDA Website. However, interested individuals must first register on the NYDA Website which is free and can then browse their opportunities and programs available. When the learnership program opens the application form and all other detail will be available on their website as well.

Once applications close the company will select candidates who are suitable and these will be added to their shortlist. Candidates on the shortlist will be contacted with more information and may be invited to an interview. If you do not receive any word from the company, you can assume your application was not selected.

NYDA Learnerships Closing Date

Closing dates for learnership provided by NYDA are usually during July, August, and October. Depending on the field and opportunities available, some have been reported to close in January as well. Thus, it is vital for interested individuals to seek open learnerships on the company’s website and ensure you are aware of the current closing date.

Your application plus all documentation must be submitted before the indicated closing date for it to be considered. Any applications that do not have all the documents or are incomplete will not be considered. Please do not submit your original documentation, just certified copies of them.
